Weebly.com

The Organizational Development team members have created personal websites to showcase their knowledge, skills, and offerings. Some are cute, some are techy, others are a bit drab and uninviting. They all captivated my interest and got me thinking. The main thought I had was that I, too, wanted to create one. When I find the time, I intend to investigate that idea. I like the cni blogspace, but my Steffie Stuff blog is not what I want it to be. Maybe a change is needed. I know that some of you already have websites, so identify yourselves and I'll seek your advice as to the best mode to use-- blog, wikispace, or webpage- based on the purpose for my tech place.

By the way, the ABRAZO team members are developing wikispaces.

C & I, I believe you are the "cool" folks that created this departmental tipping point.

  1. i can see why the weebly format would be appealing. in the end, all of these blogs are going to have the same general elements and interface opportunities, it is just finding your flavor i guess. i think that in order to be comfortable with a blog you have to go through a few that don't fit you as well as you like. lots have the option of importing content as well, so you won't lose what you've already done. likewise, just because our c&i blog is on blogspot doesn't mean that yours has to be as well. regardless of what format you us (blogger, weebly, wordpress, etc.) your blog can still be linked here. it might be nice to have a few different formats to view as we read each other's blogs.

  2. It is good to know that a blog from somewhere else can be connected to the C & I site. I will keep pondering this new idea.

  3. With our own existing HISD website, I wonder why they had to create one. Is it for professional or personal use? I understand its widget style format allows you to easily manipulate the appearance, making it more fun to use. It seems too that websites are easier to find, unlike blogs that need tags to locate. I guess it depends on the purpose of the user. For us, I think blogs work just fine. I like how it is interactive; we can easily give and receive feedback. Do websites have this interactive function too?

  4. I think it's important to try various platforms. It aids in the learning process and keeps us up to date. Problem is--everyday there is a new option to choose from as we explore the possibilities.

  7. Wow! You all amaze me! I just think I'm getting a handle on blogs and voila! Something new. I'm interested in keeping abreast of all of it. Could we possible shcedule a monthly "CNI TECHIE TIPS" forum where we all get together with our "lappy tops" and share our new ideas and concepts?
