A group of our team members met on last Friday to discuss the action research project our team will implement and showcase during the Summer Leadership Institute. Our research question is :
What impact has the use of blogs had on the professional learning of the C & I team members?
The action research team will need the assistance of each team member to ensure the project's success. Beginning this week, you will need to periodically check the pdscni.blogspot to read a reflective question pertaining to the blog. Then, prepare to be a part of our video diary as we hear what you have to say. We will randomly choose 6-8 team members to answer each question and use the data as part of our research. The first question is below. Please note, ALL TEAM MEMBERS WILL BE ASKED TO RESPOND TO THIS QUESTION. Feel free to share your thinking on the blog, but all responses will also be captured via video. Happy thinking.
QUESTION: What experiences have you had using blogs as a learning tool? What has encouraged or impeded your blog use?

I'm excited to see where this will take us. As Ian Jukes said, "Take baby steps to get where you want to be with 21st century literacy skills." It's so nice to be in a group of supportive people as we toddle out of our comfort zones toward a digital future together.
ReplyDeleteMy only experience using blogs has been during this job assignment. I had heard of blogs but that was about it. Then our team came up with a blog (thank goodness for Dan) for our teachers for follow-up after our 30 hour G/T trainings. From there it stemmed to creating my own blog. I still need some nudging when serves as a constant reminder for me.
ReplyDeleteMy church has a blog site and I have added comments from time to time, but honestly, it has not been a priority in my life to blog! But the time has come for change! YES WE CAN! I am finding it fun to share what I learn with my 16 yera old son. He always responds with, "Who taught you that?" as if a woman with a master's degree is incapable of learning! HA! I'll show the little "dig-native"!
ReplyDeleteFrom time to time I have posted comments to writers and poetry blogs. Also there is this Blog Radio I responded to once; usually a one time comment. Hey email was a new communication tool once. User-friendly is the key to anything becoming successful. I'm not sure I've explored the full benefit of blogging and I am excited to venture into this new frontier.
ReplyDeleteThis is my very first time blogging. So, I am excited to see how I can gain many great learning experiences from this new journey. It does take some additional effort for me to get on the computer just to blog. I am unsure why that is. However, I do enjoy reading the blogs that have posted.
ReplyDeleteI created a blog last year. Unfortunately, the timing was not right. Everybody was so swamped with other things and the tech bug was not yet fully caught. The team also talkied about making blogs a part of training in 2007-2008, but when Dan joined the team, it became a reality.
ReplyDeleteI have had the opportunity to use blogs. Throughout my coursework at PVAMU. Many of my professors made it mandatory to have class discussions by blogging. I feel that it allowed everyone to be actively involved as well as to share various viewpoints on a topic given. I am excited to read and share different points of views from my collegues. This journey has motivated me to stay connected!!! GO PURPLE BLOGGERS!!!!!
